You can explore Rtanj from several sides, and the most famous trails are from the south and north sides. The southern 15 km long side is the most popular because it is well marked and is suitable for both amateurs and those with less experience. If you are a more experienced mountaineer or in better condition, you can go for the harder and more challenging northern path.
What is specific to Rtanj are two special events – the Christmas and Vidovdan Ascent. The Vidovdan night ascent to Rtanj gathers a large number of mountaineers who hike during the night, and after the ascent, a magnificent sunrise awaits you at the very top.
Since there are no springs on Rtanj except at the mountain foot, we advise you to bring a few liters of water with you.
You can go on hiking tours alone or you can also look for organized tours with guides.
